Current-limiting Backup Fuse Overview

XRNT1-24 high-voltage current-limiting backup fuse is suitable for high-voltage indoor power systems with AC 50Hz, rated voltage 12~24kV, and rated current up to 200A.

Under the specified conditions of use, it can reliably disconnect any fault current between the minimum breaking current of about (3.5~6)In and the rated breaking current of 40KA. It is a protective element for overload and short-circuit faults of power transformers and other power equipment in the power system.

Current-limiting Backup Fuse Features

Current-limiting Backup Fusecan reliably interrupt any fault current between the minimum breaking current and the rated breaking current.

  • high breaking capacity
  • stable characteristics
  • low power consumption

It can be used in conjunction with other switches and electrical appliances such as load break switches and vacuum contactors as a short-circuit and overload protection element for power transformers and other electrical equipment.

It is also a necessary supporting electrical protection element for high-voltage switchgear, ring network cabinets, and high and low voltage prefabricated substations.

Current-limiting Backup Fuse Structure

The fuse is cylindrical in shape and has an insertable structure. It consists of a ceramic shell, a contact cap, a fuse, a skeleton, quartz sand, etc.

The contact caps at both ends of the fuse are inserted into the socket of the fuse base. The connecting plates at both ends of the fuse base are connected in series in the protected circuit. When the current passing through the fuse exceeds the specified value for a certain period of time, the temperature of the fuse rises. When the fuse reaches the melting temperature and melts rapidly to generate an arc, the quartz sand as the arc extinguishing medium quickly extinguishes the arc and cuts off the circuit.

Current-limiting Backup Fuse Operating Conditions

> The ambient temperature should not be higher than +40℃ and not lower than -25℃;
> The altitude should not exceed 1000m;
> The surrounding air should not be obviously polluted by corrosive or flammable gases, water vapor, etc.;
> There should be no frequent severe vibration environment.

GRL’s high-voltage current-limiting backup fuses represent a leap forward in electrical safety technology. With features designed for both functionality and ease of use, they offer a reliable solution for protecting valuable electrical infrastructure against potentially catastrophic faults. For those in industries reliant on high-voltage power, these fuses are not just components; they are safeguards, ensuring that energy systems operate smoothly and efficiently under all conditions.
