What is a cartridge fuse holder?
A cartridge fuse holder is an accessory for fuse equipment. It is necessary to integrate fuses that cannot be placed directly in the conductive path due to their shape and size.
The function of a fuse box holder is to integrate fuses safely in electrical circuits, ensure a robust current path (voltage does not creep to other components). At the same time, it provides a method to replace fuses once they manage over current events as intended.
How does a cartridge fuse holder work?
Cartridge fuse holder (a type of fuse accessory) accepts incoming power. At the same time, it helps the device that passes it through the fuse as efficiently as possible.
In doing so, the possibility exists that added features are built into the product to provide additional functionality that is beneficial for the OEM or to the end user of the assembly.
A few common components of fuse accessories can be defined as follows:
-
- Terminals are responsible for both accepting current from the circuit into the fuse accessory and delivering it back to the circuit.
- Contacts are responsible for engaging with the fuse to deliver current to and from the fuse, often in the form of a clip or an eyelet.
- Additional components can be found in various fuse holders, but they depend on the product type.
What types of fuse holders are available for my fuse?
Whether with a protective cover or not, GRL fuse holders are divided into three categories according to the number of phases and the fuse fixing method.
These cartridge fuse holder types are as follows:
Phrases | 1P / 2P / 3P |
Fuse Fixing Method | Cartridge Fuse Holder / Fuse Box Holder |
Protection | With touch protection device N pole with breaking capacity without touch protection device. |
The main current parameters of our fuse are:
- 160 amp cartridge fuse holder
- 250 amp cartridge fuse holder
- 400 amp cartridge fuse holder
- 630 amp cartridge fuse holder
What are the standards that govern cartridge fuse holder?
UL and IEC are the two primary standards that govern fuse holders. For electronic fuse holders, UL only offers UL Recognition. Third party governing bodies, such as VDE or SEMKO can certify fuse holders to the IEC standard.
Depending on if the end assembly is pursuing a 3rd party certification, such as UL or VDE, a fuse box holder evaluated and certified to either one of these standards can help support the end assembly certification.; however 3rd party certifications may not required.
As GRL conducts business around the world, we are committed to enhancing our products to meet global governmental environmental mandates now in effect. GRL has pledged to eliminate hazardous materials in our products regardless of application or market. We’ve initiated a comprehensive review of NT series products to substitute non-hazardous materials into their construction wherever possible.
Most GRL’s cartridge fuse holders are RoHS compliant. We offer a tool for RoHS compliance status and certificates. Some legacy fuse box holders may not be listed as RoHS compliant within the tool and as such, you could contact us for further information.
How to install cartridge fuse holder on power wire?
- Cut off the power first
- Then select the appropriate fuse holder according to the power supply voltage
- Correctly connect the line to the terminal of the fuse box holder
- Then fix the fuse holder in the power line
- Make sure to reconnect the power after installation
If you have any questions, please contact the GRL team immediately and we will get back to you within 24 hours.
